Architectural Review Committee (3 Regular Members and 2 Alternate
Purpose of Committee: To ensure enhanced property development while maintaining and encouraging quality character of design within the Ponte Vedra and Ponte Vedra /Palm Valley Overlay Districts in line with the goals and objectives of the St. Johns County Comprehensive Plan.
Qualifications:

  • Must be a registered voter in St Johns County.
  • Seeking applicants competent in the fields of architecture, design, planning, landscape architecture or other relevant expertise who would also need to fill the below requirements.
  • Seeking applicants who reside in the Ponte Vedra Zoning District
  • -OR-

  • Seeking applicants who reside in District 4, but outside of the Ponte Vedra Zoning District.

Term: Regular members as well as alternates serve a term of four (4) years.
Meeting Schedule: This committee meets every fourth Wednesday of each month from 5–8:30 p.m. in the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library.

Adjustment and Appeals Board (3) – 2 Regular and 1 Alternate
Purpose of Committee: The purpose of the Adjustment and Appeals Board is to hear requests for code interpretation and cases for unsafe building abatement codes. The Adjustment and Appeals Board primary responsibility is to hear and decide appeals of orders, decision or determinations made by the building official relative to the application and interpretation of the Building Code.
Qualifications: Seeking two regular members who reside within St. Johns County and have knowledge and experience in the technical codes that are regulated by the Florida Building Code. Also seeking one alternate member, representing the building industry.
Term: Regular Members serve a term of four (4) years.
Meeting Schedule: This Board meets on call as needed in Conference Room 1A/1B of the County Permit Center, 4040 Lewis Speedway.

Library Advisory Board (2 Members)
Purpose of Committee: An advisory committee created to advise the County on the establishment, operation and maintenance of free public library service within St. Johns County.
Meeting Schedule: This Board meets on the 2nd Monday of each month at 9:00 am with the meeting location rotating each month to a specific branch library.
Qualifications:

  • All members must be St. Johns County residents
  • Prefer Representatives from District 2.

Term: Members serve a term of four (4) years.

North Coastal Corridor Overlay District Design Review Board (2 Regular Members)
Purpose of Committee: The purpose of the North Coastal Design Review Board is to maintain, protect and enhance the diverse and unique character of the North Coastal Corridor and its established beach community, respect the well-documented history of the area and achieve specific goals and objective of the St. Johns County Comprehensive Plan. The Design Review Board's (DRB) primary responsibility is to determine compliance with Part 3.09.00 North Coastal Overlay District and Part 3.10.00 Vilano Beach Town Center Overlay of the St. Johns County Land Development Code, Ordinance 99-51, as amended.
Qualifications:

  • Must be a St. Johns County resident demonstrating interest in the history and design of the North Coastal and Vilano Community.
  • Applicant must have experience and expertise in architecture, design, planning, landscape architecture, history or other relevant expertise of the North Coastal and Vilano Community.
  • Applicant must meet the membership area residency requirements: Members must reside within the North Coastal Overlay District or within the Vilano Town Center Mixed Use Overlay District.
  • Members are required to file a financial disclosure with the Supervisor of Elections.

Term: Regular members as well as alternates serve a four (4) year term.

Fire Code Board of Appeals (8 – 3 Regular & 5 Alternates)
Purpose of Committee:
To rule on matters relating to the Fire Code and its enforcement in accordance with NFPA Section 1.10.
Qualifications: Applicant must be a County resident. Seeking those with experience in one of the following: Engineering or architectural design; General contracting; Fire protection contracting; Building code enforcement; and Legal. Seeking three (3) members who are non-county residents that are professionals with arts, cultural, or heritage organizations or institutions with experience utilizing events as tourism demand generators, one of which is an alternate with voting privileges only in the absence of one or more regular members.
Meeting Schedule: Meetings of the Board of Appeals shall be held quarterly on the 3rd Monday of March, June, September, and December at 1:00 PM in Conference room 1, of the St. Johns County Permit center. Located at: 4040 Lewis Speedway, St. Augustine, FL 32084.

Mid - Anastasia Design Review Board (6 - 4 Regular and 2 Alternate)
Purpose of Committee:
The purpose of the Mid-Anastasia Design Review Board is to protect natural resources, maintain and enhance the diverse and unique character of the Mid-Anastasia Overlay District and achieve specific goals and objective of the St. Johns County Comprehensive Plan. The Design Review Board’s (DRB) primary responsibility is to determine compliance with Part 3.08.00 Mid-Anastasia Overlay District of the St. Johns County Land Development Code, Ordinance 99-51, as amended.
Qualifications: Must be a St. Johns County resident demonstrating interest in the history and design of the Anastasia Community. Appointees to the Design Review Board shall be qualified through the demonstration of special interest, experience or education in design, architecture or history of the Mid- Anastasia community.

  • Seeking applicants residing within the Overlay District, on Anastasia Island and north of Weff Road and Satsuma Avenue.
  • Members are required to file a financial disclosure with the Supervisor of Elections.

Term: Regular members as well as alternates serve a term of four (4) years.
Meeting Schedule: This Board meets the second Thursday of every month at 3:00pm in the County Permit Center, 4040 Lewis Speedway.

South Anastasia Design Review Board (3 Regular & 2 Alternates)
Purpose of Committee:
The purpose of the South Anastasia Design Review Board is to protect and preserve the “Old Florida” style, rural beach community in the South Anastasia Overlay District and achieve specific goals and objective of the St. Johns County Comprehensive Plan. The Design Review Board’s (DRB) primary responsibility is to determine compliance with Part 3.07.00 South Anastasia Overlay of the St. Johns County Land Development Code, Ordinance 99-51, as amended.
Qualifications:

  • Must be a St. Johns County resident who has shown an interest in the history and design of the Anastasia Community.
  • Prefer at least one regular member who owns or operates an active business with a physical presence within the District and meet the Membership Area overlay residency requirements. In the event there are no qualified applicants for this position, an applicant that meets the Membership Area overlay residency requirements may be appointed.
  • All other members shall meet the Membership Area overlay residency requirements which are to reside on Anastasia Island south of Dondanville Road.
  • Members are required to file a financial disclosure with the Supervisor of Elections.

Term: All members shall serve a term of four (4) years.
Meeting Schedule: This Board meets the fourth Thursday of each month at 3:00 p.m. in the County Permits Center, 4040 Lewis Speedway.

Affordable Housing Advisory Committee (1 Regular Members)
Purpose of Committee:
To review established policies and procedures, ordinances, land development regulations, and adopted local government comprehensive plan and recommend specific action or initiatives to encourage or facilitate affordable housing while protecting the ability of the property to appreciate in value.
Qualifications:

  • Seeking St. Johns County Resident engaged in Residential Home Building.

Term: All members shall serve a term of four (4) years.
