Health and Human Services Advisory Council
About the Council
The St. Johns County Health and Human Services Advisory Council was established by Resolution of the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) in 1995. The BCC determined that while County government historically provides health and human services, government cannot and should not attempt to solve all health, mental health, substance abuse and social problems. But government can provide a way to address these problems and seek solutions and remedies in a coordinated and efficient manner. In keeping with this focus, the HHSAC was established to exist and serve as an advisory body to the BCC on such matters.
On behalf of the BCC, members of the HHSAC review funding applications from local independent agencies that provide services to the residents of St. Johns County. The HHSAC then provides its funding recommendations to the BCC for approval. Agencies approved for funding are provided contracts and monthly invoices are submitted to the County by agencies for reimbursement for the services provided.
All meetings are held at Health and Human Services, 200 San Sebastian View, St. Augustine. The Board meets at 4:00 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month in the Kingfisher Conference Room. The Executive Board meets the first Thursday of the month at 3:30 p.m. via call in phone line 904-209-6136. Any changes in dates, times, or meeting rooms will be posted. (Meeting Schedule)
